In the Advising and Transfer Services Office, we help students understand placement test results; select a degree program; understand College requirements and identify transfer plans or career goals.

OCC has four academic schools, including liberal arts and humanities, business management and social sciences, nursing and STEM. Each school offers a variety of degrees and certificates. Within each of the three degree types are several choices of programs (or majors). Students should choose a major that aligns with their transfer plans and career goals.

Successful transfer from OCC requires planning. The Advising and Transfer Services Office staff can help students access information on two- and four-year colleges/universities and plan courses accordingly. Students interested in transferring should meet with an advisor early in their career with OCC.

Alpha Alpha Alpha is an honor society recognizing the achievements of first-generation college students. Ocean County College is home to the Gamma Psi chapter.

Requirements for membership include:
- 15 credits earned
- 3.2 or higher GPA
- Being a first generation college student
- Actively enrolled as an OCC student in a program of study leading to an associate’s degree with at least six active credits during the semester of induction

The induction ceremony takes place annually during the Spring semester. The application opens in January.

The Counseling Center provides comprehensive counseling and other supportive services focused on the psychological well-being and academic success of our students. The Educational Opportunity Fund (EOF) is a state-funded program designed to provide academic and financial support to students economically and educationally affected by a history of poverty. EOF supports students who are capable and motivated, but who may lack adequate preparation for college, and/or may be the first in their families to attend college.

Students are evaluated for admission based on state financial criteria, including a history of poverty, academic readiness, potential, and motivation. An interview is required. We recommend students register full-time (12 credits or more), as limited part-time opportunities exist. Applicants must also complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) annually.

The Ocean County College Financial Aid Office was established to serve those students who need financial assistance to obtain a college education. The college participates in a multitude of financial aid programs from state and federal government sources.

In 2018, 37 percent of the OCC student body received some form of financial assistance. Any student enrolled in an approved degree or certificate program can apply for financial aid at OCC. Financial aid is available for both full- and part-time students.

The Jay and Linda Grunin Center for the Arts, located on the campus of Ocean County College, is a performing arts center dedicated to providing art and entertainment to Ocean County and the Jersey Shore. Featuring premier acts from across the globe, the Grunin Center’s intimate venue allows patrons to experience once-in-a-lifetime performances from celebrated artists, hometown musicians, and unique entertainers. The Library supports the instructional and research needs of the students, faculty, and staff. The Library's collection contains e-books, periodicals, audiovisual materials, and online resources. Staff is always available to acquaint you with the resources and services available and to assist you in locating the information you need.

Group study rooms are located throughout the Library. The Tower Rooms on the first and second floors of the Library provide an area for quiet study and relaxation. For group projects use the study rooms on the second floor. Priority is given to group use of these rooms on a "first come, first served" basis. Your OCC ID card acts as your Library card.

The NSLS is the nation's largest leadership honor society. Students are selected by their college for membership based on either academic standing or leadership potential. Candidacy is a nationally recognized achievement of honorable distinction. Student Conduct works collaboratively with other offices and departments to create a safe, secure, and civil environment where learning, growth, and development can take place both inside and outside of the classroom. We provide an environment in which all college community members are treated with respect and dignity through utilizing a variety of methods for both individuals and groups.

Goals: 1. To develop, interpret, and enforce campus policies
2. To ensure compliance with Federal Title VI, Title VII, and Title IX laws and reporting requirements
3. To facilitate and encourage a community of respect
4. To administer a disciplinary process that maintains the integrity of the academic community and to uphold due process rights of students
5. To provide learning experiences for all students and especially those who participate in the conduct process Due Process, Standard of Evidence, and Sanctioning

The student conduct process is quite different from criminal and civil court proceedings. Student conduct procedures and rights are managed with fairness to all, but do not include the same protections of due process afforded by the courts. Due process, as defined within this code, assures written notice, a thorough and equitable investigation, and the right to appeal in writing a finding or sanction, or both, based on specific grounds, as outlined in this document. Preponderance of the evidence is the evidence standard for this code. No student will be found in violation of OCC policy or the Code of Student Conduct without information showing that it is more likely than not that a violation occurred, and sanctions will be proportionate to the severity of the violation and to the cumulative conduct history of the student.

Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) is the national honor society of two-year colleges. The Ocean County College chapter is Tau Iota. Any student who has earned at least 15 credit hours at OCC (excluding transfer or remedial credits) and has a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.60 is eligible for membership and will be invited to join the organization.

The Testing Center administers campus specific exams to current and prospective students as well as distance learning exams, and national standardized tests for the community at large. Tests are administered in a safe, secure and pleasant testing environment with a diverse, well-trained staff that creates a friendly and helpful atmosphere to promote academic and professional satisfaction and achievement.

We subscribe to the National College Testing Association’s Professional Standards and Guidelines, we are a member of the Consortium of College Testing Associations, and we are an official New Jersey Department of Education Jurisdictional Testing Site for the High School Equivalency Assessment (HSEA-formerly GED®) for those who want to earn a New Jersey High School Diploma. As a proud Military Friendly Campus, OCC Veterans Services provides enhanced services for our veterans, military members and their families with a dedicated Veterans and Military Resource Center in Room 225 of the Larson Student Center (#8) that houses a study lounge, social and gaming lounge, and tutoring services.

Student veterans and military members are encouraged to participate in the many educational, social, and recreational activities offered through the Veterans and Military Resource Center. The College also offers exclusive academic advising sessions that promote personal growth through one on one academic/transfer planning in the Advising Center, as well as financial aid counseling and VA program advising in the Financial Aid Office.
